Emmaus House

AMENITIES:

Emmaus House is a solid, 1912 brick house with 3 floors plus a developed basement (over 5,500 sq ft total) a large yard, garage and driveway. The house is located at 70 Cornish Avenue, right across the street from Misericordia Hospital and close to downtown, bus stops, grocery stores, eating establishments, and the river (20 minute walk along the river to the Forks).

House was purchased in August 2013 and Renovations occurred in the Spring/Summer 2014
Thank you  Leonard Friesen, Lenwood Contracting, for doing a job of the renovations!  We LOVE the original brick wall that Len left in the basement.  The renovations have included:
  • Bedrooms and Bathrooms on second floor, main floor and basement,
  • Recreation room and Laundry area in the basement,
  • Kitchen ovens, stove top, freezer, dishwasher and pantry storage area

BEDROOMS and BATHROOMS: 

Each student will be provided with a bed, dresser, desk, bookcase.  Each bedroom is unique because of its placement in the house.
3rd Floor: (accessed by main staircase and rear fire escape)
  • 2 large spacious single rooms,
  • 1 very large double room,  
  • 1 shared bathroom w/bathtub and shower.
2nd Floor (access by back staircase from kitchen area) 
  • 1 small single room with private balcony, 
  • 1 large double room, 
  • 1 shared bathroom with bathtub and shower.
Basement: (access by main staircase)
  • 1 large singe room (with one window to code), 
  • 1 large double room (with two windows to code), 
  • 1 bathroom w/shower.
Coordinator Suite (access by main staircase or through door/hallway to back staircase )
  • 1 master bedroom with attached study,
  • Daughter’s bedroom,
  • Bathroom w/shower.

SHARED AMENITIES:
  • All utilities and access to internet (wifi) included. Security system with personal access codes for residents.
Main floor:
  • Kitchen with 2 fridges, double oven, freezer, pantry and large work island,
  • Large dining room, 
  • Living room with fireplace and piano, 
  • Guest room/quite room, 
  • Bathroom w/shower. 
2nd floor: 
  • Small reading nook with a library of novels and non-fiction.
Basement:
  • Large recreation room with TV (cable included), stereo system (surround sound), exercise equipment, games, small fridge and microwave, 
  • Laundry, sauna.
Yard: 
  • Large back yard with tables and vegetable garden,
  • Garage for bicycle storage and includes woodworking and mechanical tools.
Parking:
  • Limited parking is available (for a monthly fee). Students are strongly encouraged to use public transportation or bicycles.

2 Stress Relievers (Golden Retrievers):
  • Remy is 12 years old and Ellie is almost 5 years old.   They are calm, loving, playful and well-trained (except when spotting a squirrel!)
